Let's just pretend we're Monk for a second.
A new student joined this Yoga class on the first day. And the following conversation ensued.
Instructor:Feel liberated.Express yourself.For instance you can...[then the instructor farted].
New boy: [Covering his nose confusedly].How else may we express ourself?
Another student also farted.
New Boy:Are you feeling liberated?
Instructor:Are you trying to mess with me?
New Boy: No sir!...its just.. em..em...i quit![stammers]
Instructor:Its actually over for today.I'll see you tomorrow.
Its important that we understand where people are coming from, what actually interests them, what they really mean when they are speaking to us.Its important we listen and understand.
