The untold secrets of unbeatable entrepreneurs!
Recently I was consulting for a lady who wanted to go into business and at the same time be an activist. I showed her the areas where she was getting things mixed up. There was nothing wrong with you being an activist I said but you have not been able to really decide what your business is all about. Is it a non profit or a profit-oriented business? A lot of business people fall into the same pitfall. They get the wrong idea about business. Then it leads to conflict of interest in their operations.
The proposal which my client took months to design asking for funding revealed that she wanted sponsorship aid from the same party that her activism activities and causes had been attacking all along. She had been speaking against her prospective sponsor. She found it so hard to accept. You have to choose between making money from business and protesting to have a bill passed which may bring you good reputation. What do you want, money or legacy? I asked her to choose between getting fame from activities surrounding protest or having the earning power to earn money and control the market through business. She opted for the profit oriented business. I asked her why? “Aren’t you concerned that some people will suffer or even die if you don’t protest and defend their cause? She said she doesn’t care.
At her response I laughed because it showed me the underlying intentions of some rebellion. If it’s not rooted in principles and character; the idea can be easily stopped and the leader castrated. If almost all what they have and stand for is removed; if they had to be imprisoned and die of hunger, most leaders will value their own life first before the masses. This is why defining your business is very important.
Understand the importance of deliberateness and take consistent action daily. Entrepreneurs who succeed are those who understood their need for action. They took the risks and they are made. Taking bold steps every day towards the dream is like a marathon, you don’t run it without stamina. It takes risk to take the bold step. In the process of activating your vision from paper to reality; there is need for desire to meet with brutal force of action for result to be birthed. Risk is the bridge that separates the weak from the strong. It’s the same gulf that exists between the ordinary and the extraordinary, the great from the common businessmen. The size of your dream is the measure of your heart; the size of your heart is the measure of your greatness!
I cannot overemphasise the relevance of rediscovery of your passion. Success requires rediscovery your business and the attitude adopted in that business. The essential word is: passion. How much can you give up for your business to succeed? That is what it means to have a force in the right business direction. For success to happen in business; you need to know how to ask for help when you need one. Ask for help when you need help. What are the ways to develop skills, what does my kind of business require? It’s helpful to seek help from others who are succeeding in the same line of business. Where can I improve in my business? Such were questions we can humbly ask and the people will give us free advice and ideas. Recently I shot a speech video and I conducted a survey on it. The amazing response I got was overwhelming. People watched the video and they gave me suggestions on how to improve upon what I am doing. And they all did that for free. It is with their feedback, you are equipped to get better. You are confident that you are working with right and specific information on your business.
Another thing that successful entrepreneur understand is that they know how to handle days after they have met their target. You just made your greatest sales ever, and some one wants to buy just one of your products? It can be difficult. The quantity is too small and your feet are dragging. You don’t feel like getting up. The shower seems so scary to go into. The trophy from yesterday’s sales sits on the shelf shinning. The certification hangs on the wall of the office; there is no point going out to work today. These are days successful entrepreneurs don’t take for granted. They get to speak of their success on such days. They get more audience, customers’ loyalty and trust is won on such days more than in the past.
Yes. I know that there will be days when you don’t feel like going to work on your business. There will be days where the morning sun blinds through the windows, reflecting over the furniture and warming up the house. Warmer for you to sleep in, your bed’s spread becomes cosier and more than ever before a trap. On such days when it seems that you have made enough money, you have closed adequate sales; you have amassed some reasonable volume of profit. Get up and go anyway. Those are the days you have to stay out some new prospects. Telling your success story to as many as possible who cares to hear. The idea is to stay busy on your dream. It means that you will keep getting up and go anyways. In conclusion, stay busy, keeping your feet in the door of opportunities, Focus, handle suspicion without becoming paranoid and you will succeed.
