Where was God when Japan was going under?-A case for God in Case of Japan

Where was God when Japan was going under? Where was God when Haiti went through earthquake? You may be asking questions. Why will God allow natural disasters? Why will He allow evil in His world?  How can He claim to love and allow disasters on the creature He made? Does God really exist? Does He love me at all? It may surprise you that God see afflictions that people go through. He saw the people of Haiti. He saw the Japanese. He understood what they are going through. He saw them in their pain.
I used to ask why? Until I understood that this was not designed to be a perfect world. This planet was not designed as our final destination.  We are all on a journey. And we are heading home someday. We may enjoy everything we find here on the journey but we must never hold the journey too dear to hearts that we forget our eternal home.  There is a place in the after-life. That is where perfection lies. It is in eternity that earthquakes cease.

Like other countries, Japan was created by God. He knew that the disaster would happen. But God did not stop it. Why? Because death on this earth is not the finality of everything…death is simply a transition. It is not about living or dying as much as it is about who we live for. And where we end up in the afterlife…death is just the beginning. So, the people of Japan may have been through stuff. But God has not forgotten them. He is still God even in their pain. And the sun shall rise again. The Japan we see today will not remain in ruin. It is true that they went through so much. But even in their pain, there is this power and resilience in the Japanese like every human race. We tend to transcend anything that comes against us. That is why you will see a sprouting in a field somewhere after a fire has swept through such field. We mourn whenever people die but what we should be more concerned about is beyond death, what is their hope? It is appointed for man to die once. But after this comes the judgement.
Let me tell you a story:

A maid and a mistress
“And Sarai said unto Abram, My wrong [be] upon thee: I have given my maid into thy bosom; and when she saw that she had conceived, I was despised in her eyes: the LORD judge between me and thee. But Abram said unto Sarai, Behold, thy maid [is] in thy hand; do to her as it pleaseth thee. And when Sarai dealt hardly with her, she fled from her face. And the angel of the LORD found her by a fountain of water in the wilderness, by the fountain in the way to Shur…And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou [art] with child, and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the LORD hath heard thy affliction.” (Genesis 16: 5-7 and 11).
I cited a text above concerning the relationship of a maid and a mistress. It may interest us to know that one of the reasons for provocation of divine blessings upon Hagar (an unbelieving lady) was the affliction she faced from her believing mistress (Sarai).  It may surprise you that God sees and hear people’s afflictions. Both the uttered pain and the un-uttered pain are heard by Him. It may interest us to know that God is not in the business of hiding from realities. He does not show up on Sunday mornings in churches to take some of your money in guise of offerings.  Then run away on those slower Monday mornings when everything is boring and tiring.

How this concerns you?
God does not go into hiding when you are faced with challenges.  The story of Sarai and Hagar showed how Hagar was oppressed by her mistress (Sarai). Her mistress was a lady under the covenant who afflicted her slave girl (a lady who was not under the same covenant). But you know what happened? Immediately God saw the maltreatment, He sent out an Angel in search of (Hagar) the slave girl. The Angel went after her and found her. The Angel acknowledged that she was brutally dealt with. God was so moved with compassion to intervene in her matter. Why because God will never support evil. He saw the affliction of Hagar and stepped in with a promise and a blessing. He is the God who sees. His intentions are ever clear. He will not leave your soul in hell. He won’t allow you to remain in your trouble forever. God went after Hagar. He went to search for her in guise of an Angel. Hagar was given a promise concerning her pregnancy. In spites of her different background and faith, God responded in her pain.
This same God is able to respond in the case of Japan and Haiti. He will respond in your situation as well. Just believe Him irrespective of what you go through. He will bring you through it all.
