Where was God when Japan was going under?-A case for God in Case of Japan

Where was God when Japan was going under? Where was God when Haiti went through earthquake? You may be asking questions. Why will God allow natural disasters? Why will He allow evil in His world?  How can He claim to love and allow disasters on the creature He made? Does God really exist? Does He love me at all? It may surprise you that God see afflictions that people go through. He saw the people of Haiti. He saw the Japanese. He understood what they are going through. He saw them in their pain.
I used to ask why? Until I understood that this was not designed to be a perfect world. This planet was not designed as our final destination.  We are all on a journey. And we are heading home someday. We may enjoy everything we find here on the journey but we must never hold the journey too dear to hearts that we forget our eternal home.  There is a place in the after-life. That is where perfection lies. It is in eternity that earthquakes cease.

Like other countries, Japan was created by God. He knew that the disaster would happen. But God did not stop it. Why? Because death on this earth is not the finality of everything…death is simply a transition. It is not about living or dying as much as it is about who we live for. And where we end up in the afterlife…death is just the beginning. So, the people of Japan may have been through stuff. But God has not forgotten them. He is still God even in their pain. And the sun shall rise again. The Japan we see today will not remain in ruin. It is true that they went through so much. But even in their pain, there is this power and resilience in the Japanese like every human race. We tend to transcend anything that comes against us. That is why you will see a sprouting in a field somewhere after a fire has swept through such field. We mourn whenever people die but what we should be more concerned about is beyond death, what is their hope? It is appointed for man to die once. But after this comes the judgement.
Let me tell you a story:

A maid and a mistress
“And Sarai said unto Abram, My wrong [be] upon thee: I have given my maid into thy bosom; and when she saw that she had conceived, I was despised in her eyes: the LORD judge between me and thee. But Abram said unto Sarai, Behold, thy maid [is] in thy hand; do to her as it pleaseth thee. And when Sarai dealt hardly with her, she fled from her face. And the angel of the LORD found her by a fountain of water in the wilderness, by the fountain in the way to Shur…And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou [art] with child, and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the LORD hath heard thy affliction.” (Genesis 16: 5-7 and 11).
I cited a text above concerning the relationship of a maid and a mistress. It may interest us to know that one of the reasons for provocation of divine blessings upon Hagar (an unbelieving lady) was the affliction she faced from her believing mistress (Sarai).  It may surprise you that God sees and hear people’s afflictions. Both the uttered pain and the un-uttered pain are heard by Him. It may interest us to know that God is not in the business of hiding from realities. He does not show up on Sunday mornings in churches to take some of your money in guise of offerings.  Then run away on those slower Monday mornings when everything is boring and tiring.

How this concerns you?
God does not go into hiding when you are faced with challenges.  The story of Sarai and Hagar showed how Hagar was oppressed by her mistress (Sarai). Her mistress was a lady under the covenant who afflicted her slave girl (a lady who was not under the same covenant). But you know what happened? Immediately God saw the maltreatment, He sent out an Angel in search of (Hagar) the slave girl. The Angel went after her and found her. The Angel acknowledged that she was brutally dealt with. God was so moved with compassion to intervene in her matter. Why because God will never support evil. He saw the affliction of Hagar and stepped in with a promise and a blessing. He is the God who sees. His intentions are ever clear. He will not leave your soul in hell. He won’t allow you to remain in your trouble forever. God went after Hagar. He went to search for her in guise of an Angel. Hagar was given a promise concerning her pregnancy. In spites of her different background and faith, God responded in her pain.
This same God is able to respond in the case of Japan and Haiti. He will respond in your situation as well. Just believe Him irrespective of what you go through. He will bring you through it all.

Moments that shaped the world!

There are moments that shaped destinies! If you have ever heard of a saying that: delay can be dangerous? You will understand what I am talking about. The impact of one minute lost and the power of one moment missed can shape entire history; defining both destinies and destitute! It is no longer news that Haiti fell through earthquake. The crux of my writing is this: when the natural disaster left some lives hanging between life and death, who actually killed the rest of the many people that natural disaster didn’t kill? There were people who would have survived the earthquake but the rescue team came late. Some of us who have money refused to donate and therefore not enough aids were sent. As a result, some earthquake victims who were too weak to hold on to the rope of life slowly let go. They crossed the chasm of living and dead. That was the end. Although huge amounts of money was raised and are still being raised, many souls had gone.

If you can still remember how Americans waited for weeks to make up their minds on the Afghanistan war, whether to continue the war or to back out of it. President Barrack Obama did his best among several other challenges he was faced with. The Health Care reforms took tones of his energy. Most precious time was wasted on debate. The clock was ticking. The issue on the House’s agenda was more than the war victims. The US President was unable to make a decision quickly. The Afghanistan war claimed more lives. America later did what seem good for their country by sending reinforcement but many soldiers had already died before the back up arrived. Some great soldiers had lost their precious lives because there was no support, because artilleries were not enough, because war equipments weren’t timely supplied.

If you have ever seen the movie called Titanic, you will understand what I am talking about here. If you can still recall that the hero called Jack and other passengers on board died shortly after that shipwrecked. Numerous souls were lost in the sea because of what? Time! It happened not just because there were not enough large round floaters, to be thrown out to drowning persons. It was not a matter of watertight floaters alone but also due to the fact that the rescue team came in late. The passengers died because there was bureaucracy, ego, pride, selfishness and negligence somewhere along the chain of command. Surrounding the situation of the shipwrecked passengers was a rescue team that was infected with a viral disease called pride!

When leaders, officials, medical doctors, nurses, lawyers, committees and everyday people in the center of decisions begin to see our work as a matter of heaven and hell, as matters of life and death; then we will fulfill the will of God. When we begin to apply urgency where it is needed, we will never drag feet where we should hurry and scurry. In this age of greed where “ego-bloatedness” reigns, crossing the line of decision will continue to require much more than we can imagine. Our mere obedient we not be enough rather a timely sacrifice…Where power and pride conflicts wisdom and common sense conflicts with authority, the only thing that suffers most is people who are the creation of God.

Let it be re-written for future leaders that one most important thing to watch out for in leadership is never allow title displace target. It is not in how we dress up to appear before people or in the media. Crowd of audience may cheer, without fulfillment of purpose it all amounts to nothing. Every future leader must know this that: lives, chance, time, moments and opportunities, will never wait for anyone. This has been before the world began, and it will forever remain so. The clock is ticking. You got to make up your mind. Decide what you would do. The consequence may cost you something but the situations of urgency commands urgent response. And with each tick of the clock, souls are perishing.
